Soul Search Sunday: Proactive Minus the Acne

If you're sitting around waiting on opportunity to knock on your door, you're wasting your valuable time. Don't wait for opportunities. Create them. If you are trying to get to a better situation whether it's a job, relationship, or what have you, what's the harm in speeding up the journey to your destination? Actively pursuing your goals is more effective than waiting until an opportunity comes up. It seems that some people are unapproachable and inaccessible but often times people are more willing to talk with you or help you obtain your goals than you would think. Your goals will always be unattainable if you never reach for them. That CEO, president, or administrator is only a person. We're all human. That's enough in common to communicate what you wish to gain from them. You'll never know if you don't try. Don't walk into your destiny; run. Who doesn't want a head start in the race to success and happiness? This type of proactive isn't bottled and sold. You don't need a prescription for it. It's an action that's done better soon than later.

RELATIONS WEDNESDAY: Date Outside Your Box

There is nothing like a Brown King. (Moment of silence for them) ... Done? Good. We, Brown Queens love our Brown Kings but should we be closed off to only dating inside of our own race? Absolutely not. It seems that more and more of our Brown Kings are more than open to expanding their dating options to other races. Why should we be exclusive to black men? If you have more in common with someone of a different race than someone from your own, why not date them and see how things work out? It's 2012. Some of us get a little hot under the collar when we see another black man with a Kim Kardashian-ish chick. If you're having no luck finding your (Insert black man's name here) or black men are just not your type, there are more options out there. Maybe there's a Ken Kardashian that's just what cupid ordered. Date outside your racial box. Which brother from another mother would you crown King in your Queendom? Answer the poll question to the upper right of this post.

TRESSES TUESDAY: To Great Lengths

Many Brown Queens are going to great lengths to look fab for the fall. By great lengths, I mean long, luxurious hair. Whether it's bone straight, wavy, or braided, lengthy tresses are a good look for these upcoming cooler months. If you don't have naturally long hair, adding personality pieces or extensions is one of the quickest way to get from short hair don't care to long hair; no worries. Got some inspiration for you below.  Did anybody tell you how gawgeous you looked today? Just did! Have a grand day! *Hair- flip*

MUSIC MONDAY: Earth, Wonder, and Frankie Beverly

Good music never gets old and you don't have to be old in age to know good music. Good music makes you feel good. I don't know about you but when I think about feel good music, I think of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Stevie Wonder, and Frankie Beverly and Maze. I truly believe that their music is euphoric. They could be singing about heartbreak and you'll still feel this joy inside and you have an uncontrollable desire to dance and sing along. They represent a time when the band was just as important as the vocalist. You gotta love a good band, These artists are some of my favorites because their music is timeless and they provide a musical experience. "From deep down in my soul I wish you happy feelings." (FB&M) Anybody else feel like joining the BQC in doing the electric slide? lol Happy MUSIC MONDAY!

**Today's playlist includes "Happy Feelings" x Ledisi (tribute to FB&M), "Joy and Pain" x Frankie Beverly and Maze, "Reasons" x Earth, Wind, and Fire, "Can't Hide Love" x EW&F, "All I do" and "As" x Stevie Wonder**

Soul Search Sunday: People Pleaser

A good Brown Queen cares about people. A better Brown Queen knows that what she wants and how she feels is important as well. It's perfectly o.k. to learn from others and grow. It's when you take on others' desires as your own because you lack your own is where the issue begins. Being too easily influenced and impressionable causes you to lose your individuality. Being an individual and being able to take a stand for what you believe is key to not having your every move be dictated by everyone other than yourself. To have your own mind is to make your own decisions based on what's best for you. Take the time to look out for yourself. If anyone has your best interest at heart, it should be you. You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Relations Wednesday: Would You Go Back?

There are just some things that you should not tolerate in a relationship. Some offenses you just can't come back from. Where do you draw the line? What is that one thing someone can do to you that there is no coming back from? Cheating is probably the most common offense. Even though you're sick to your stomach, it seems that most of us go back or never leave. If it's a fully committed relationship  let's say marriage for example, maybe just maybe I could go back after the first time. The second time? No way. In the case of a relationship that's not as serious and on the rocks anyway? I'd have to say farewell to that situation and move on. Domestic violence is also a serious offense in romantic relationships and much too common these days. You want to say right away no, never, wouldn't do it, not in a million years would you go back but the fact is that's a decision that takes some serious thought. Would you walk away from all the time you've put into that relationship? Everything you and him have together? That's a bridge I'd have to cross if ever I got to it. At this point in my life as I am not involved in a committed relationship, no I would not stay or go back. This topic has spun from the recent Chris Brown & Rihanna debacle. It seems that Rih is going back. Although no one knows but those two and the people closest to them, it seems they are moving forward together. She's able to go back. Would you go back? That's an awful lot to come back from. What do you think?

TRESSES TUESDAY: Natural Queens Fall '12 Trends

Here are four of the most fierce fall style I'm currently in love with. Natural Queens, try these with your own tresses and add you own twist. I currently have yarn braids, or the more fancy term, Goddess locks that I did myself. It's a really great protective style. They look a lot like box braids, but they also look like dreads, which I love but am not willing to commit to. Pics coming soon. Enjoy.
