Soul Search Sunday: Bad Habits

My procrastination and punctuality will not be the death of me! I declare, procrastination and punctuality will not be the death of me. I have so much potential but these bad habits of mine makes my full potential hard to reach. No, they havn't seriously affected my life yet but I have a feeling that if I don't do something about them soon, my bad habits will catch up with me. I refuse to let a couple of bad habits be the reason I lose out on a great opportunity. I have way too many good habits to let two destroy everything. I wish I could just snap out of it but I know it won't all happen tomorrow. Rome wasn't built in a day. You know what, scratch that ! These bad habits gots to go NOW! (It's called fake it til' you make it!) What are some of your bad habits that need to go like yesterday??

Relations Wednesday: Play Your Part

There's nothing worse than holding on to someone that's trying with everything in them to resist you. Not only are you being hurt by the one you can't let go but you're also hurting yourself. If someone has made it very clear to you that they will not be with you, there's nothing better you can do for yourself than to let them go. It must be understood that people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Which ever reason they are there, allow them to play that part or the whole script is thrown off and you will take even longer to reach your happy ending. Accept a person for who they are and the role they must play in your life. Trying to force a person into a role not made for them puts everyone in a role they're not good at playing which makes for very sour love story. Play your part and allow them to play their own. Let your story love unravel and enjoy your happy ending already.

MUSIC MONDAY: Overseas Soul

Who said soul music was reserved only for the beautiful people of brown skin tones? And who said that good old fashioned sangin' only came out of U.S.? Well when you find them, use all that power invested in you to call them out. If they didn't know that there are some amazing overseas singers that can roll with the best of them, then they've been living under a rock. The overseas singers on today's BQC playlist definitely got soul and these foreigners are blowing up not only on the home-front but are blazing on the U.S. charts as well. I, for one, support the Foreign Music Exchange program if that means I can hear more from the likes of Adele, Daley, Corinne Bailey Rae, Amy Winehouse, Natasha Bedingfield, Marsha Ambrosius, and Estelle. These are just some of the international soul stars that have graced the radio with their pure raw talent. (Adele, Daley, and Corinne being 3 of my favorite) Music is the universal language that allows us to relate to people even when we have no idea what they're saying either because of different languages or extremely heavy accents. Music defies the boundaries that separate our physical locations. We're able to enjoy music form all over the world and what we find is that the similarities in our taste of music connects us more than it divides us. Happy MUSIC MONDAY!!

*Today's BQC Playlist includes Alone together x Daley ft. Marsha Ambrosius, Rolling in the Deep x Adele, Is This Love x Corinne Bailey Rae, Heard it Through The Grapevine x Amy Winehouse, and American boy x Estelle*

Soul Search Sunday: Find Your Outlet. Plug in.

Internal battery low? What's your outlet? What's the one thing you do or place you go to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Nothing makes you happier or puts you at peace like this activity or place. Well my favorite outlet is music or anything to do with it (singing, concerts, or live shows). When I take a break and take time just for me, music is usually involved. Your outlet should not only allow you an escape but it should also be your place to reboot and re-charge so that you are able to deal with things and get through them. Any outlet that hinders you from re-charging is not as useful as it seems. Everyone won't always understand or appreciate your outlet. If you try sharing your outlet and this happens, don't be disappointed. It's alright to enjoy your outlet alone. So find your outlet, plug in, and charge up because life will go on. .

RELATIONS WEDNESDAY: Sibling or Third Parent?

Raising children is no easy task. Helping with homework and transporting kids are tasks that parents know all too well. Often times these tasks are also familiar to the oldest child or older sibling of the family. They are familiar because it is often the responsibility given to the oldest sibling. It's helpful to the parents to share some of the labor of raising a child with the oldest sibling. Yes, the oldest learns about responsibility but it is important to know that the responsibility of raising children that are not theirs is not their responsibility. The responsibility for the older sibling is to be of assistance to the parents but not handling the entire operation. It takes a village to raise a child but if an entire village did not create the child, then any assistance is of favor and not requirement. Families should stick together no matter what. however careful consideration should be taken when one or two family members decide to bring a challenge to the family that affects the entire family. Bringing children in this world is a choice made at conception. If that child can not be cared for by those two people more than anyone else then another choice should be made.

TRESSES TUESDAY: FLOTUS DNC Hair

Last week our First lady brought grace, glamour, and grand tresses to the DNC as she delivered a triumphant speech about her husband, our President of the United States. And she did so fabulously, from her Tracy Reese dress to her gorgeous bob. Her bob was perfect and it complimented her glow as she gave a phenomenal speech about the "love of her life." Her bob was vibrant and so nicely cut. Cudos to whoever styled the first lady. She certainly got us fired up about the President and me fired up about that hair. Yesssssss!

MUSIC MONDAY: A. Keys is Back

New Alicia Keys music has hit the radio waves and she's making a big buzz. Although she's been making a buzz, I'm a little disappointed because she usually comes back with a vengeance. However, I'm still excited to hear her because she's been away for a while enjoying her new baby and husband I'm sure. Looks like she's been working a lot too because new music seems to be coming out every 3 weeks. A.K. always makes triumphant music, seemingly music for the kings and queens. Her new music is no different. Check her new music out "New Day, Girl on Fire, and Not even the King." She's also rocking a new short cut too. Are you feeling the new AK?
