TRESSES TUESDAY: Hairstyles For The Summer Cook-out
Welcome to summer where natural hair frizzes at the smallest hint of humidity and long lengthy hair makes you all hot and sweaty. So I've been trying to think of a hot 4th of July cookout hairstyle.(a lot right?) I'm natural and my hair is long but not so long that it falls past my shoulders when curly and will not help keep me cool when I'm outside. Any style I want to do besides adding extensions will work for me but I'm still searching for that "it" hairstyle. So I've gathered some pics of styles for you and I to find inspiration for that perfect cook-out hairstyle that will look hot but won't make you sweat. As you'll see below, the 2012 BET awards was filled with stars with hot summer do's.

1.) A bob. Lauren London's bob here is a little long on the sides but so gorgeous. If you have long hair you can pin it in the back, a feaux bob if you will.
2.) Sideswept do. I've been seeing these Queens with fishtails. That's a cute modern way for the updated ponytail.

3. Up and away. These hairstyles look good on these Queens. Updo's are also a good way to show off your makeup.

MUSIC MONDAY: Comeback Season
They giveth and they take it away. Why must these music artists torture us by being so amazing and right at high points in their careers they decide to take a break? What are they thinking about? O.k. so let me stop being selfish and see that they may need a break from the spotlight. It has to be tough living your life under a magnifying glass. Their human too and they go through issues just like everybody else. I get it. But I'm a music addict and Queens if you're like me you need to score a new record from your favorite artist asap. Lucky for us some of the best artists are either in the studio again or have recently made a comeback. And the others we're still waiting on. Today's BQC playlist features artist who have taken a "break" or on the verge of a comeback. If they're not I need them to make that happen yesterday. Get it together. It's comeback season.
*The BQC playlist features Jazmine Sullivan, D'angelo, Musiq Soulchild, Lauryn Hill, Maxwell, and India Arie * (I know it's all soul but what can I say?"

Soul Search Sunday: Applying Yourself
Remember that thing you've been wanting to do for a long time now? The new year is way too far away to keep putting it off. Your goals can not get accomplished if you are sitting around waiting on them to get done on their own. Death to wishful thinking. You must apply yourself and get things done, starting yesterday. Telling yourself I'll start next week is wasting time. Lying to yourself definitely won't get it done. So if you say you'll start something, follow through. Start tomorrow or better yet, start today. Like right now. Start back painting, writing, or working out, or whatever it is you've been putting off. The sooner you get to doing those things that make you happy, the sooner you can be that Brown Queen you would be proud to be. Realize it's a journey. You won't be made new overnight but at least you'll be making progress.

Service Saturday: Donate Blood And Save 3 Lives
Did you know one pint of blood can save up to 3 lives? There are people out there in our communities who need your donation to survive and you have the power to help them by simply donating blood. I've donated blood once before and although the needle scared me a bit, knowing that I helped save a life gave me enough courage to go through with it. So I encourage you to visit your local blood bank. If you're 17 or older they will test you before donating to make sure you're healthy enough to donate and you're well on your way to saving a life or 3. When I asked my mom, a phlebotomist, "Why should someone give blood?" She responded, "There's no better reason than to save someone's life."
