Tresses Tuesday: Best and Worst Hair of Olympians

    First and foremost, congratulations to the entire Team USA for bringing home so many medals in the 2012 Olympic games in London. They certainly did our country proud. Now since it is TRESSES TUESDAY, let's get down to the Olympic crowns( the hair).

     There was a lot of controversy surrounding Gabby Douglass' hairstyle. So what her hair was jacked and yes someone should have provided her with a hair dresser fit for an Olympian. However the important fact is that Gabby is a Gold medal award-winning champion. Her hairstyle obviously did not affect her talent that brought victory and honor to the entire country. I think that more than makes up for the hair. Grand job, Gabby! Venus Williams and Claressa Shields are among others who should be forgiven for their hair. They have the gold. Back off.

  

    The were some Olympian Brown Queens who remained glamorous while bringing home the gold. Sanya Richards-Ross definitely had the most beautiful, most talked about (in a good way) tresses. Her makeup was always flawless. Allyson Felix seemed to always look beautiful too. She's a natural. That girl is fast. Brown Queens rocked the Olympics if you ask me! Go Team USA!!

  

 

MUSIC MONDAY: Supreme Girls

      The 2012 remake of Sparkle featuring Jordin Sparks and the great Whitney Houston is coming to theaters Friday, August 17th. The original Sparkle film captures the dream of three sisters who want to become the next big Motown superstar girl group. The Supremes were the ultimate Motown girl group and served as the model for all soul girl groups. They embodied grace and femininity as Brown Queens do so well. The Supremes style and story are both fabricated in the movie musicals Dreamgirls and Sparkle. Both of which produced some phenomenal music and are featured on their soundtracks. Today's playlist includes music form the ultimate Motown group, The Supremes, along with music from the original Sparkle and Dreamgirls.

Soul Search Sunday: Find Your Own Spotlight

       It can be difficult to see someone in the exact spot you wish to be in. You may even find yourself in the role of a hater! Yes, you may not realize it but hating on someone else for having what you want is being a hater and it's quite unhealthy for your self-esteem. I believe it's a sickness. When you see someone doing what you want to be doing or attempting to do something you've already done, remember this. There is enough room for everyone at the top. The bottom is where it's way too crowded.  Work hard at what you do and you'll find happiness. Don't strive to be better than someone else. Strive to be your best and the rest will come. When you find yourself being a hater, stop it and start being a supporter. People will respect you more than if you go around talking negatively about others.There can be a million people doing what you do but they won't do it like you. Don't sweat it.There's a spotlight for everyone, find your own! Only you can shine the way you do. 

SERVICE SATURDAY: Back To School

       Many of the young kids are returning to grade-school this month. Yes, summer vacation is officially coming to an end. Parents will stretch their paychecks thin to be sure their kids have every thing they need when they go back to school. However some families are less fortunate and can not afford the basics. This is where Brown Queens come in. Donating school supplies to a neighborhood kid or his or her school is a great way to be sure that child starts the school year the same as the other kids. The child could then focus on learning instead of what he or she doesn't have for school. Easing the financial burden for a struggling parent is a great way to give back to this community. Let's give all of our children a fair shot at succeeding this school year. After all, children are the future.

Relations Wednesday: Lovetown, U.S.A.

       Where is Mr. Right and where can you find him?? Well I've been on my own quest to find mine for a while now. It always seems to be the ulterior motive when I'm going out with my girls whether they know it or not. I can't help but think that maybe my Brown King is somewhere in the crowd of a nightclub or bar. So far I've been wrong. Like I've said in previous posts, a nightclub is not the best place to pick up a worthy potential date. It sounds so desperate to say I'm going here to meet a man but the reality is you want to be in the atmosphere of your best possible candidates. So then the question raised "Where can I go to put myself in the way of cupid's arrow?" I've thought about it and come up with a few places. Don't hesitate to share your personal hotspots too.

1. Chuuuurch (Amen!)
 Religious views are known to make or break the compatibility between you and a mate. To be sure you share the same views, try being open to finding a mate at church. Singles nights at church may need to be penciled in your schedule.

                                                                      2. The Gym
 A lot can be assumed about a man who attends a gym regularly. #1 He's committed to and can afford his gym membership. That shows he can commit to something even if it's just a gym membership. #2 He cares about his health. 3. He's in good shape or on his way to being in shape. A nice body may be evidence to that.

3. The Grocery Store
Eggs? Check. Milk? Check. Man??  I would definitely recommend the super market in the nice neighborhood down the street from the corporate offices and far away from the grimy neighborhoods of the inner city. Think about which man shops where.
